Including The Collection of Bernard Fornas, Former President and CEO of Cartier International

Bonhams|Cars is proud to announce its return to Knokke-Heist, Belgium, for one of the most significant events on its global auction calendar. Timed to the Zoute Grand Prix, the auction will feature on Sunday 12 October an impressive lineup of over 60 collector cars with more than half of the sale offered without reserve. The 2025 Zoute Sale presents its largest selection of collector cars from the classic to the contemporary era, with a selection of motoring jewels being offered. Many of the cars in the sale are offered without reserve. Bonhams|Cars will offer the impressive car collection from Bernard Fornas, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Cartier International and co-CEO of the Richemont Group for two decades. The collection offers a diverse mix of high-performance ‘ultimate edition’ modern sportscars, bold and futuristic designs from the golden age of America car manufacture, classic European luxury, and iconic sports cars, spanning multiple eras from the 1950s to modern-day and includes some of the most sought-after and collectible vehicles in the world. Highlights include a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso and a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible.

Tomas Schultz, Head of Bonhams Cars, Europe, said : “An astonishing range of highly original and extremely rare examples of some of the world’s finest luxury marques will be offered at Bonhams beautiful beachfront sale in Zoute on 12 October. The sale encapsulates the breadth of Bonhams motoring expertise, including elegant 60s tourers, first-of-the-line supercars and concours-ready vintage cabriolets.”

Heading the sale is an exceptionally rare 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari Chassis no. ZFF76ZHB000201168. Estimated at €3,300,000 – €3,600,000, this iconic car, delivered new via Charles Pozzi in Paris, wears a stunning Rosso Scuderia with red interior. Boasting comprehensive Atelier specification including carbon fibre roof and wheels, this Ferrari is under extended warranty cover for car and battery until December 2026. An amazing 2005 Maserati MC12 Stradale, estimated at €3,400,000 – 4,000,000 is one of only 50 examples produced. Delivered new to Italy, this car has only one registered owner from new, circa 44,000 km recorded and a fully stamped service book. This Maserati MC12 Stradale is presented pristine condition.

A 2016 Indian 1811 Springfield Thunder Black is one of the last motorcycles to have been ridden by the famous French rock and roll and pop singer, Johnny Hallyday (estimate: €30,000-50,000). It will be offered without reserve. Among the world's oldest motorcycle makers, Indian has carved out a prime spot for itself in the industry and in American culture, despite a particularly turbulent history over the years. The Indian Springfield is inspired by 1950s styling blended with 21st Century technology. It features the 1811cc Thunderstroke 111, which delivers 14.1 Mkg at 2600 RPM, all enhanced by pneumatic suspension, ABS, cruise control, keyless ignition, etc.

In his book Johnny Hallyday on the Road published in 2016, Pierre Billon wrote that Johnny Hallyday wanted to make a motorcycle road trip on the famous Route 66. He turned to Harley Davidson to discuss a commercial partnership, but the brand declined as they were seeking to appeal to a younger audience. It was thus Indian that was chosen to carry the singer across the United States. In July 2016, motorcycle number 56KTHAAA0G3341078 was entrusted by Indian-Victory Paris, Avenue de la Grande Armée, to Johnny Hallyday. He used it for a few months in preparation for his American road trip, where he received the same model, this time loaned by Indian US, from 13th to 26th September of the same year. This would be the artist's final road trip, as he passed away on 5th December 2017.

Sold on 28th September 2016 to its current owner, the motorcycle had just a few hundred kilometers on the clock. Since then, it has been serviced regularly at Indian Paris with meticulous care, as evidenced by its properly completed logbook. The exhaust silencers have since been replaced, again by Indian and with an invoice, by a model with electronic valves from Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and in the same way, the air filter was replaced by a sports model, also by Indian. The motorcycle comes with the original parts. With under 21,000km on the clock today, this Indian is in excellent condition and will be sold with all its original documentation.

A 1979 Toyota BJ43 « Land Cruiser used by Thierry Sabine and his team for the first Dakar Rally (Oasis-Paris-Dakar), fully restored by Teseven Toyota Classic with Toyota's approbation will be offered with an estimate of €100,000 – 150,000.

A unique 2025 Microlino electric bubblecar Smurf will be offered at auction for the benefit of the Heads Up Fund for brain tumour research (estimate: €18,000 - €20,000 offered without reserve). This unique model pays tribute to the Smurfs through an artistic design blending humour, tenderness, and nostalgia. A true one-of-a-kind work of art on wheels symbolizes the meeting point between popular imagination and technological innovation. Inspired by the iconic microcars of the 1950s and first seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, the Microlino embodies a modern and sustainable vision of urban mobility: compact, electric, elegant, and eco-conscious. Designed by Swiss company Micro Mobility Systems and exclusively distributed in Belgium by D'Ieteren, the Microlino stands out with its rounded silhouette, signature front-opening door, and a range of up to 228 kilometers. Manufactured in Europe with a steel chassis and aluminium body, this retro-designed city car offers a driving experience that is as unique as it is efficient. The Microlino seats two adults and has 230 litres of luggage space. Top speed is 90km/h.

Proceeds from the sale will go to the Heads Up Fund for Brain Tumour Research based in Ghent, Belgium, which actively supports research into brain tumours, particularly among young people. Through this charitable initiative, the Zoute Grand Prix, Bonhams, D'Ieteren, and the Smurfs come together to show that art, mobility, and social commitment can move forward hand in hand.

The two major highlights offered in The Zoute Sale on October 12 are the pinnacle of Grand Tourer elegance from the 1960s. The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible is one of only 39 produced originally in left-hand drive. This car was delivered new to the USA and has benefitted from a complete restoration some years ago by Bacchelli and Villa and finished in a striking triple black configuration and estimated at €1,150,000 – 1,400,000. The 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso is presented in a beautiful shade of Griggio with a black interior having recently been awarded the coveted Red Book certification by Ferrari Classiche, estimated at €1,250,000 – 1,500,000. All of the cars in Mr. Fornas’ collection are presented in fantastic condition, ready to be showcased on the Concours lawns or driven as initially intended.
