Sutton Tower - Top-Selling Manhattan New Development, Sutton Tower -

2025-11-10

Sutton Tower, the tallest residential building along Manhattan’s East Side waterfront, and the first skyscraper in the world by acclaimed designer Thomas Juul-Hansen, today celebrates receiving the renowned 2025 BLT Built Design Award for the “Architectural Design: Skyscraper” category. Developed by JVP Development and Gamma Real Estate, the 850-foot tower has been recognized for its architectural innovation, impeccable design, and craftsmanship. The accolade arrives as Sutton Tower surpasses $150 million in sales this year, cementing its position as one of New York City’s top-performing new developments of 2025.

"We’re incredibly proud to see Sutton Tower recognized with the BLT Built Design Award and celebrate achieving $150 million in sales this year,” said Van Nguyen of JVP Development. “These achievements reflect the appeal of Sutton Tower to the market and the dedication of our entire team. From vision to execution, our focus has been on delivering elegant design and great value. To be recognized for commercial success and design excellence underscores the project’s impact on the community and the industry alike and validates our mission to create exceptional homes that stand the test of time."

The BLT Built Design Awards celebrate excellence in global architecture, interiors, and construction, recognizing projects that push the boundaries of creativity and functionality. Selected by an international jury of architects, designers, and industry leaders, winners are honored for works that demonstrate innovation, craftsmanship, and lasting design impact. Sutton Tower’s recognition in the “Architectural Design: Skyscraper” category underscores its contribution to New York’s skyline and its role in advancing contemporary residential design.

Designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, Sutton Tower exemplifies a modern interpretation of classic New York elegance, and reflects Juul-Hansen's commitment to enduring quality and timeless beauty. Rising 850 feet, the tower features a Bavarian limestone façade from base to crown, a feat rarely seen in today’s construction, and harkens back to a bygone era of architecture with its unparalleled craftsmanship. Its exterior is divided into two sections: the lower portion mirrors the charm of the historic surrounding neighborhood, while the upper portion uses expansive glass to emphasize the impressive scale and light. A champagne-colored crown with geometric facets adds a dynamic element to the skyline.

“We conceived Sutton Tower as a study in bridging the old and new Gotham, and through this approach, the goal of timelessness and permanence,” said Thomas Juul-Hansen, Founder and Principal of Thomas Juul-Hansen, LLC. “Our goal was to bring warmth and human scale to the skyscraper form through natural materials and sculptural detail. The result is a building that feels calm, enduring, and intrinsically connected to its surroundings.”

Juul-Hansen’s design carries this hand-crafted approach inside the building. Each of the 120 corner residences—ranging from one to five bedrooms—features at least two exposures and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows framing sweeping views of the East River, Midtown skyline, and beyond. Interiors boast wide-plank oak flooring, ebonized oak entry doors, and custom wainscoting. Primary bathrooms feature radiant-heated floors, Laufen soaking tubs, Waterworks fixtures, bookmatched Calacatta Gold slab floors and backsplashes, and sinks carved from single blocks of Bianco Dolomiti marble. Kitchens are anchored by Statuarietto marble islands, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, and custom Italian cabinetry.

Complementing the residences, The Sutton Club offers more than 22,000 square feet of amenities across five above-ground floors filled with natural light. The collection includes a skylit club lounge with outdoor terrace, formal dining room with chef’s kitchen, screening room, library, game room, children’s playroom, and multi-sport simulator. Wellness-focused amenities include a 50-foot indoor swimming pool, spa treatment suite, infrared saunas, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with boxing and movement studios.

Residents also receive exclusive perks through the building's unique partnerships with Blade and UOVO: Art, Fashion, Wine that reinforce the luxury lifestyle provided at Sutton Tower. Blade offers residents preferred pricing on seaplane, helicopter, and charter flights to any Blade airport, while UOVO: Art, Fashion, Wine offers residents preferred pricing on wine storage and a complimentary consultation with their premier cellar management expert.

Nestled among the elegant architecture of the neighborhood, Sutton Tower is surrounded by tree-lined streets, historic townhouses, pocket parks, and the East River Esplanade, offering both serenity and connectivity. Residents enjoy proximity to Midtown and the Upper East Side’s dining, shopping, and cultural institutions, as well as convenient access via the nearby ferry and heliport.

With more than $150 million in sales this year, Sutton Tower stands as both a market success and a work of architectural artistry, embodying the intersection of craftsmanship, design, and livability.

Pricing for current availability begins at $1.825 million. Sutton Tower is developed by JVP Development and Gamma Real Estate, with exclusive sales and marketing by Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group.
